MEGAN CAHN
What’s your name?
Megan Cahn.
Hometown?
Fairfax, CA.
What do you do for a living?
Senior beauty editor at
Refinery29
.
What kind of perfumes do you typically go for?
I wish I could say something deep and sexy, but after this Nova experience I realized I have to stay true to me: I am a light, citrusy, floral kind of girl.
What’s your earliest memory of perfume?
My grandmother had these almost black, heavily scented soaps that stayed on my hands for hours after washing them. Maybe why I steer clear of anything musky?
What perfume did you wear at age 13?
A lovely mixture of teenage angst and CK One.
What perfume did you wear at age 16?
Probably a more potent version of the aforementioned, but I do remember all of my friends being really into Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers.
What perfume did you wear at age 22?
I’m such a clothes person that if I had any money it would always go to shoes instead of perfume. But I dreamed of Michael Kors and would stock up on samples. And at the age of 25 I finally bought myself a bottle of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.
Favorite comfort smells?
I love the smell of tomato vines, it brings me back to my dad’s garden when I was a kid. The first light rain on pavement and the sweet whiff you get when you’re walking on the dirty streets of New York and pass a bodega with an array of flowers out front.
What did your home growing up smell like?
Sweet peas from my dad’s garden, taco night, and probably a bunch of sweaty kids who just got back from playing soccer.
What’s your sign?
Gemini.
